Art is an expressive interaction between artist, materials and the viewers.

Images surface from the core of the artists' heart. The materials bring life to the images and they influence the art.  The clay seems to want to move in a certain direction having it's own limitations...the paint falls at a certain angle and pools in one area.  Artists can only guide their materials to create sculptures or paintings.  As the viewer perceives and interprets the artwork the interaction feels complete.  Sometimes this interaction is formal and conscious but often it is intuitive and soulful.

Art as an interactive process, for me, has expanded in recent years through teaching and collaborative mosaic projects.  I have taught children from kindergarten to eighth grades creating both traditional ceramic projects and mosaic scenes.  One collaborative project produced 14 mosaic panels.  The panels incorporate handmade clay animals with ocean views.  Another collaborative project, a sixty foot mosaic footpath, is installed at a local school.

I graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Sociology.  I encountered my first ceramics course at UCSB and quickly became mesmerized.  I continued studying ceramics at San Francisco State University until I had two children.  As my children grew I focused my attention toward art education.
