Nancy Mona Russell

Not obviously representational, without iconography, symbolism or historic reference, these paintings might be considered abstractions of visual memories.  Sometimes the surface, colors, forms take on their own essence, rather than being something remembered, they become something discovered in the process—a distillation of the experience of making the artwork itself.  But as each of us will have a singular interaction with the work, there might also be a deep exploration into our own nature as viewers.
